I booked the night train because it was cheaper than a hotel. I stayed awake because I did not want to miss it.
A moving room
Towns slid past in small clusters of light. At two in the morning a station clock told me the time and a man on the platform lit a cigarette, and neither of us would see the other again.
Arriving
By morning the landscape had changed completely. I stepped off tired and a little changed, which is what I wanted from a trip in the first place.
